This Privacy Policy explains how Street Rides ("Street Rides", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you visit streetrides.ca, purchase or enquire about a product, contact us, or choose to receive marketing.

Information we collect

Depending on how you interact with Street Rides, we may collect:

  • Contact information: name, email address, telephone number, billing and delivery address, language, and communication preferences.
  • Order information: products ordered, order status, delivery details, returns, warranties, and customer-support history. Payment providers process payment-card information; Street Rides does not receive complete payment-card numbers.
  • Enquiry and fit information: the information you choose to provide about intended use, location, route, distance, terrain, storage, rider fit, budget, or product preferences.
  • Marketing and consent information: the channel and categories you selected, the disclosure shown to you, consent date and source, campaign interactions, and opt-out history.
  • Device and usage information: IP address, browser and device information, cookie identifiers, pages and products viewed, referring pages, searches, and interactions with the Site and our advertising.
  • Messages: emails, telephone enquiries, website chats, WhatsApp messages, and other communications you send to us.

How we collect information

We collect information directly from you, automatically through the Site and its cookies or similar technologies, from Shopify and service providers acting for us, and from advertising or marketplace partners when you interact with a Street Rides listing or advertisement. We do not buy, scrape, or use harvested telephone lists for electronic marketing.

Why we use information

We use personal information only for identified and reasonable purposes, including to:

  • operate the Site and provide requested products, recommendations, and support;
  • process orders, arrange delivery, administer returns and warranties, and prevent fraud;
  • answer enquiries and provide a requested product-fit consultation;
  • maintain security, troubleshoot the Site, measure performance, and improve our services;
  • send service communications and, where permitted, marketing selected by you;
  • measure advertising and show relevant advertising when applicable consent and platform controls permit it; and
  • meet legal, regulatory, tax, accounting, safety, and dispute-resolution obligations.

Email, SMS, and WhatsApp

Email, SMS, and WhatsApp are separate communication channels. Agreeing to one does not automatically subscribe you to another.

We send commercial electronic messages only where we have a lawful basis and maintain the records needed to demonstrate it. Every marketing message identifies Street Rides and provides a working way to unsubscribe. We process opt-outs promptly.

If you choose WhatsApp, we use the telephone number and message information needed to provide the conversation through WhatsApp and our WhatsApp service provider, Kapso. A customer-initiated product consultation does not by itself subscribe you to ongoing WhatsApp promotions. Ongoing WhatsApp marketing requires a separate choice. You can reply STOP at any time or contact us using the details above.

Street Rides does not test or probe old customer numbers to determine whether they are active on WhatsApp.

Automated assistance and human review

We may use automated tools to classify an enquiry, collect product-fit information, or prepare a recommendation. Product availability, specifications, laws, certification, warranty, and service information can change. You can request a person at any time. We route safety, warranty, return, complaint, and uncertain product questions for human review.

When we disclose information

We may disclose only the information reasonably required to service providers and partners that support our operations, including:

  • Shopify, which hosts the store and provides commerce services;
  • Kapso and Meta/WhatsApp, when you use our WhatsApp channel;
  • payment, fraud-prevention, shipping, delivery, warranty, and customer-support providers;
  • analytics and advertising providers such as Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Pinterest, subject to applicable consent and controls;
  • review, form, email, SMS, and store-application providers used to operate the Site;
  • brands, distributors, and marketplace sellers when needed to fulfil a request, clearly identify a seller, or support a warranty; and
  • government, regulatory, law-enforcement, legal, or other parties when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of our services.

Some product links are affiliate links to third-party merchants such as Amazon or Best Buy. If you follow one, that merchant applies its own privacy policy. Street Rides does not control the merchant's collection or processing.

Service providers and international processing

Some service providers process information outside your province or outside Canada, including in the United States and other countries where they or their subprocessors operate. Information in another jurisdiction can be subject to that jurisdiction's lawful access rules. We use contractual, access, and security measures appropriate to the service and information involved.

Cookies, analytics, and advertising

We use necessary cookies to operate checkout, accounts, security, localization, and privacy preferences. With the choices available to you, we may also use analytics, advertising, and social-media technologies to understand Site use, measure campaigns, and personalize advertising.

You can use the Site's privacy or cookie controls and your browser settings to manage non-essential technologies. You can also use provider controls such as Google My Ad Center, Meta ad preferences, and the DAAC WebChoices tool. Blocking necessary cookies may prevent parts of the Site from working.

Retention

We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose collected and for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, warranty, safety, and dispute-resolution requirements. Retention depends on the record:

  • order, tax, warranty, and transaction records are kept for applicable statutory and operational periods;
  • support and fit-consultation records are kept while needed to resolve the request and maintain an appropriate service history;
  • consent and unsubscribe records are kept as evidence of your choices and to prevent unwanted contact; and
  • analytics and advertising information follows the settings and retention periods configured with the relevant provider.

When information is no longer required, we delete, anonymize, or securely dispose of it, subject to technical backup cycles and legal obligations.

Your choices and rights

Subject to applicable law, you can ask us to:

  • explain whether and how we use your personal information;
  • give you access to personal information we hold about you;
  • correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • withdraw consent for future processing;
  • stop marketing through a selected channel;
  • delete information that we are not legally required to retain; or
  • provide information about service providers or processing outside Canada.

We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. Withdrawing optional consent will not affect a purchase, but it can limit optional services that require the information.

Quebec residents

Quebec residents may have additional rights under Quebec private-sector privacy law, including rights relating to consent, access, correction, withdrawal, certain automated decisions, and portability where applicable. Our privacy contact is responsible for privacy matters and can receive these requests.

Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. No transmission or storage method is completely secure. If a privacy incident creates a real risk of significant harm, we will investigate and provide required notices and records.

Children

The Site is intended for adults purchasing mobility products or guardians purchasing products for minors. We do not knowingly seek direct marketing consent from children. A parent or guardian can contact us about a child's information.

Complaints

Please contact us first so we can investigate and respond. You may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the privacy regulator in your province. Quebec residents can contact the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our practices, providers, or legal obligations change. We will post the revised date above and provide additional notice when required.
